Dancing

One of the things I have been doing since I was 2 is dancing. Some people say, "Oh I can't dance." Well thats not true, everyone can dance. Just you may not be able to do it well. I do six different kinds of dance. I do Ballet, Pointe , Hip-Hop , Acro , Jazz, Tap and , Modern. Most people would say that's too many. Well, I stay busy with school, homework and dance. Somehow I do it all, but I really love it so I don't mind devoting that much time a week to dancing.

My favorite classes are Modern and Jazz because I feel like I can be myself the most in those classes. The classes that I do really good in are Ballet, Modern, and Acro(which is like gymnastics). Leave me a comment and let me know if you did dance when you were little or to this very day you dance still. This is the dance studio I dance at http://www.scottjonesschoolofdance.com/

You already know that I was a dancer because my mom owned a very large dance studio is SC called the Vera Marchette School of Dance. I took dance classes almost every day and took tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, acro and baton (yes, I can twirl a baton). They didn't have hip hop back in the day! I started teaching for my mom when I was 16 and went to college on a dance scholarship. It was more of a work study because I had to teach so many classes of ballet each semester. College was the first time I ever had lessons in modern dance which I found much easier than ballet. After I graduated from college I had my own dance studio for a year but decided it was too hard to teach all week and then teach dancing on Saturdays. I decided I liked teaching Special Education better than teaching dancing. I continued to take pointe classes until my 30's and after that mostly danced for exercise (until I ruined my knee). I still love to watch dance - even recitals - and sometimes when I'm by myself, I'll still do ballet warm-ups. Keep dancing. You never know where it will take you!
